Changing The Baby

Changing Station

For The On The Go Baby

A focus in recent years has been on making products more user-friendly.  The world of baby items is no exception to this trend.  A wonderful example of this development is encapsulated in the baby changing station.  Public, private and personal venues have taken advantage of the variety of baby changing stations now available on the market.

You can choose the type of station depending on its allotted space.  Many large department stores, grocery stores, restaurants, day care facilities and more are doing what they can to make their places more "family friendly."  The commercial baby changing station is now practically the rule as opposed to the exception.

A great example of this kind of station is the Koala Horizontal Baby Changing Station.  The Koala changing station has a concave changing surface and safety straps that make this station comfortable and safe.  The polyethelyne construction and antimicrobial additive make it antiseptic and odor resistant.   The list of features goes on, not the least of which are handy instructions in six languages.  Protective liners are standard as well.

Another brand to consider for baby change stations is Rubbermaid.  They come in vertical and horizontal designs, depending on your space restrictions.  Like the Koala products, Rubbermaid includes antimicrobial protection and built-in shelf and liner storage.  The pull-down mechanism is easily accessible and suited for one-handed operation.

For your home baby changing station the options are more diverse.  You make what you want of it.  But there are some helpful ideas to make your station as complete and user-friendly as possible.  What ever you settle on for a changing table should be integrated into or next to your storage unit for all your baby changing supplies.

Make sure that you have within arms reach of your changing surface plenty of diapers, wipes, any ointments that you may use, a change of clothes, a diaper genie or pail for diaper disposal, anti-bacterial hand wash (for you) and, if doctor approved, baby powder and baby oil.  This is kind of a baby changing station starter kit, if you will.  Having these items around will ease the stress of the emergency change.

Again, whether you are out and about or in the comfort of your own home, there are an abundance of developments in the baby changing world that have made life for the parent of the baby more convenient.  You can buy a fully integrated baby change station or put together one of you own.  But whatever you do, make life easier for you and your baby.
